Pause for the Cause
Breast cancer is the most common cancer for women -- and the second most deadly. The American Cancer Society estimates more than 200,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed each year, over 1000 new cases in Utah alone. One in 9 women along the Wasatch Front will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. If breast cancer is detected and treated before it spreads to the lymph nodes and other parts of the body, the chance of a cure is greater than 85 percent! The likelihood of successful treatment is greatest when breast cancer is detected early, which is why B98.7 and its sponsors want you to "Pause for the Cause." B98.7 and Erin from the Todd & Erin morning show want to remind our female audience to take part in routine mammograms and breast examinations by your physician and at home. What is B98.7's Pause for the Cause? B98.7's Pause for the Cause encourages all participants to recognize that breast self-examination (BSE) is just one part of a very important three-part program for the early detection of breast cancer. The three-part program, physician examination, routine screening mammography, and breast self-examination, is recommended by major national health organizations including the American Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. B98.7 will even send a simple reminder to do a breast self-exam, BSE, each month. Join Erin and Wasatch Front women reminding each other to do a monthly "Breast Self Exam" by signing up. Choose your reminder method below. Heres how it works: 1 Join B98.7's Pause for the Cause text club, by texting "pause" to 68255 or fill out the form below to receive a monthly email reminder. 2 Mark your calendar on the 28th of each month, youll receive your text message or email reminder. 3 - Call your friends - remind each other to do your breast self-exam, BSE.
